10 best iPad Pro apps for making music
7. Korg iMS-20
Price: £22.99
Size: 35.1 mb
Last update: October 2014
Korg released their MS-20 synth back in 1978, since then it’s been used on tracks by Aphex Twin, The Prodigy and Autechre. Spin the wheel forward to 2011 and we see Korg release an iPad rendition of their popular module.
The app boasts a 16 step drum machine, 16 step sequencer, 7 mixer channels, 14 effects including reverb, delay, chorus and a compressor, as well as tempo settings and a swing function.
In terms of pure sonics, the iMS-20 has been praised as being more similar to the original than you would expect from a mobile app, it’s a great addition if you have some spare cash and the patience to learn how to use it.
The Good:
- Classic MS-20 character
- Only 35.1 mb
- 7 mixer channels
The Bad:
- A bit pricey
- Complicated to understand
- No update since October 2014
