Six great drum machines for under £400
3. Circuit
Novation (£249)
The Novation circuit includes four drum parts, a kick, snare and two additional percussive sounds, which can be selected from the 64 presets included in the machine.
The pads allow each sound to be sequenced or triggered in real time, offering a scope of playable options. Automation is possible to record in real time, and the various knobs can be mapped to effects and their parameters. The unit also comes equipped with duel polyphonic engines, and can be used as a standalone machine.
This easy to use machine includes MIDI I/O and 1/4″ jack outputs. In truth there is not much one can fault with the Novation Circuit and for the features provided it is definitely value for money.
