You recently remixed Daniel Johns’ ‘Aerial Love’, can you talk about how the remix came to be?

We saw that Daniel Johns put out the stems of this track for anyone to have a go at remixing it. We loved the song, so we wanted to do our own interpretation of it, giving it some Midnight Pool Party flavour.

And your original work such as Stay now has over 140,000 plays on SoundCloud, a proud moment?

Yes! Definitely! You never know what to expect when you release a new song. We had been experimenting with new sounds and took a different approach this time, so we are definitely happy with the result and humbled by the response.

‘If You Were Mine’ is a favourite of ours, is there a production from yourselves you hold above the others?

Midnight Pool Party

We actually wrote that song years ago, but we brought it back to life last year. We approached it the way we listen to music that influenced us at the time. We wanted to make dance music using live instruments, similar to what Mark Ronson does. It’s an art form that’s slowly dying and drowning in the digital world. We are happy with it, and glad people enjoyed it.

Your dream collaboration, either living or past?

Midnight Pool Party

I think we could do cool things with Mark Ronson. I think we’re on the same page as him in terms of his approach to making music and his style. Flight Facilities, because they are a huge inspiration to us. We love all their music and its good to see Aussies taking over the world the way they have. And lastly Michael Jackson because he is Michael Jackson haha.

Three tracks you can’t get enough of?

Modjo “Lady”, Stardust “Music Sounds Better With You”, Daft Punk “One More Time”. I don’t think these songs will ever get old. They are timeless. These are the types of songs that we look to and aspire to making.

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?

We have ordinary desk jobs! haha We are thankful for our jobs, but we are waiting for the day we can reverse the roles and make music full time, and work part time.

What is the coolest thing in your house?

Ummm, I think our instruments. We have a few synths, guitars, and a keytar.

Can you reveal any plans you may have for the future?

Midnight Pool Party

We have new music coming and we are putting a new live set together. There’s still a lot of work to do but we are excited for the future.
