So who is BlackGirl/WhiteGirl?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

Hi Soundspace! We are Karin and Ty, a Israeli-Caribbean music production and DJ duo that sometimes lives in Amsterdam, sometimes in Tel Aviv.

Your remix just came out with us for CutOff!CutOff!’s Numbers & Electricity, can you talk about how you approached the remix?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

We always start from the lows and go on up. So we made the rhytmic pattern plus bassline, and from there it just became a UK House kind of jam. When we remix a track we always try to create some new melodies to take the track in a different direction. Just the BG/WG touch.

And you recently had a release with Black Butter, as well as some hints at a MadTech release on Facebook?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

The Black Butter track was a remix of Pablo Nouvelle’s Poison, featuring Tulliae. We actually have a brand new track coming out with her soon, so stay tuned for that later in the year! And yesss we also have a track forthcoming on MadTech Records Ibiza compilation, it’ll be a Beatport exclusive from May 11, and then available everywhere else on May 24th. We heard the whole album got some great reviews from Mixmag in their upcoming issue, so keep an eye out for that one. It’s a super solid compilation if we may say so ourselves!

Soundspace

What roles does each other play in the studio?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

We always do the brainstorming and writing part together, and after we get inspired we just go with the flow, we’ll use the ideas of whoever has the best concept.

Soundspace

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

If we tell you, we’ll have to kill you. ; )

Soundspace

What’s the coolest thing in your house?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

Our dog Louie!

Soundspace

You have saw a lot of support from tastemakers such as EDM.com and Earmilk, how important do you feel they are in the growth of an artist?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

It’s important because they’re connecting artists with audiences, that really helps to spread great music to the people who want to hear it. As an artist you can reach potential listeners, who maybe would never have even heard about your music otherwise.

Soundspace

Your dream collaboration, either living or past?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

Soundspace

Someone you feel will make a huge impact on 2015?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

Soundspace

Can you reveal any plans you have for the future?

BlackGirl/WhiteGirl

Tons of releases! And some very great news, soon.. All will be revealed in due time, just make sure you follow us on Facebook to find out.
