Fresh Picks: Moullinex

Moullinex has managed to carve out his own unique space within the worlds of deep house and indie dance, whether it’s releasing his own music with the likes of Majestic Casual Records and Exploited or that of others on his own Discotexas imprint.

Discotexas has previously welcomed works from Tensnake, Rampa and Lazarusman, and Moullinex recently returned to the label himself for the release of his new single, Inner Child.

Following the release, we welcome the Lisbon-based creator to our Fresh Picks series, where he shines the spotlight on six incredible tracks from names like Satin Jackets, WhoMadeWho, GPU Panic, &ME and others. Get the full list, including words from Moullinex below.

Tycho – Japan (Satin Jackets Remix)
Label: Mom + Pop Music
Release: November 10th 2020

Satin Jackets always deliver quality. Guaranteed slow motion disco which is simultaneously cinematic and dancefloor ready. Having them remix Tycho, another favourite of mine, is just bliss. By the way, Tycho is doing a New Year’s Day livestream, that sounds like fun.

Westbam ft. Richard Butler – You Need The Drugs (&ME Remix)
Label: Keinemusik
Release: November 27th

&Me revisits this absolute classic. The Keinemusik producer needs no introduction, I’ve been playing their music for ages, especially the Rampa remix of Xinobi’s Far Away Place, which has been recently featured on their GTA virtual residency.

GPU Panic – Just Go (Xinobi Remix)
Label: Discotexas
Release: November 27th

My big brother Xinobi can do no wrong when remixing. Took the up-tempo original and turned it into a peak time burner. The favourite remix ever done for me is his, for my original track Darkest Night. It still gives me goosebumps.

WhoMadeWho & Frank Wiedemann – Peter Pan Me
Label: Kompakt
Release: November 13th

I am not ashamed to admit I overplayed Howling’s debut LP, Colure, throughout 2020. It’s such a cohesive, fragile, albeit assertive piece of music. To see half of Howling, Frank Wiedemann, collaborate with veterans WhoMadeWho on their latest LP on Kompakt absolutely matched my expectations about this track being a banger.

Moullinex – Ven (Poolside Remix)
Label: Discotexas
Release: November 20th

Been a fan of Poolside for years now. We met at the very beginning of the year at a festival in Mexico. It then seemed 2020 was going to be amazing – turns out it wasn’t – but the remix Jeff did for me was definitely a highlight of the year. I also had the chance to remix his original Sunrise Strategies, which is my favourite track from the album he released this year.

GPU Panic – Just Go
Label: Discotexas
Release: November 27th

GPU Panic aka. Tomé has sung and co-wrote on most of my recent singles. His unique voice literally and figuratively is present on anything he does. Just Go has been a gem in my sets lately, and we’re very glad to release it on Discotexas. We just put out another collab together, Inner Child.

Moullinex’s Requiem For Empthy LP drops March 26th.
