Misstress Barbara is an artist who needs little introduction to longstanding fans of electronic music, as she has been an influential DJ and well-respected producer since the ’90s. She is an Italian artist known for headlining super clubs and festivals all over the world at the peak of her career and she has continued to perform regularly at events such as Godskitchen.
Her catalogue includes releases on influential record labels such as James Holden’s Border Community and John Digweed’s Bedrock, but she is most known for her pounding techno tracks, which released on Carl Cox’s Intec and Christian Smith’s Tronic.
This latest release from Misstress Barbara includes three originals, opening with the title cut ‘Consensuality’, which has an arpeggio lead synth and fast-paced percussion. Next up is the agile groove and dramatic lead synth of ‘Deft’ which has raw percussion and synth lines which are driven by fast and furious drum patterns. ‘Freedom’ closes out the release with a pounding kick drum and electric synth.
Misstress Barbara – Consensuality is out now on Iturnem.
