Collate is an event that focuses solely on taking its participants on experience focused journeys in sound. It began in 2014 with Ryan Macfarlane or Bic, and his vision for an event to provide ‘melodic and nostalgic’ experiences sharing the sounds that he felt strongly needed to be heard.
Through romantic techno vibes and European influences from his time spent away from home Collate established itself as a hip techno night in a secluded bar called The Berlin in Liverpool.
Ryan’s return to Northern Ireland from Liverpool has provided local people the opportunity for a new and unique experience unlike anything that Belfast has seen before. Collate looks to expand on sounds heard across Europe bringing ambience and melody into the hard hitting Belfast scene.
House and techno is growing in popularity as Northern Ireland as Belfast becomes a recognised scene thanks to the likes of Ava festival, Twitch and Extended Play. Collate is here to add its own touch to the flourishing scene and add a new perspective to electronic music in Belfast.
The slow growth of Collate has attracted some well respected DJ’s to grace their decks. Residents whilst in Liverpool included; Adele Moss, one of Liverpool’s most well respected and followed female artists being a resident of Luna and Collate we should expect to see this face again.
The man behind a few of the artists in our stream today Paul Nolan, Chapter 24 Label runner (who will be headlining the re-launch alongside fellow Quartz member Andy Woods) and local boys Bic and Conor Miley.
