So who is Saytek?

Saytek

I am just a bloke totally obsessed with electronic music and music technology and have been pretty much all my life. I spent my misspent youth partying far too hard in illegal warehouses raves, clubs and after parties and soon started working as a technician in London clubs like The End.

I am now a reformed character, a family man who is perusing my dreams with focus and a clear head, always informed by my mind warping years of debauchery and hedonism.

You recently prepared #48 for us, which is the first live set in the series. Can you explain how you approached the mix?

Saytek

I am not really one for concepts it was just me jamming with machines going with what is in my heart. I approach making and performing music with feeling that’s what works best for me. If I start over analysing self doubt kicks in and I lose the moment.

You’ve now released with labels such as Bedrock, Soma and KMS, what would your dream release be?

Saytek

I am pretty much already living my dreams. I have a few more labels in my sights and am working on new material all the time. I have been rising slowy but surely over the last few years and that’s how I wanted it to be.

Where does your desire to perform live come from? Rather than traditional DJing.

Saytek

I was always a studio geek, obsessed with music technology and the process of getting intimate with machines. I love being in that creative zone, for me it was always a logical progression to take music out live rather than DJ. It’s just who I am.

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?

Saytek

I nearly always wake up with one sock on and always have done, the other one always seems to be missing for ever. My fiancé is trying to train me to go to bed without socks, not much luck yet.
