So who is Ramiro Lopez?

Ramiro Lopez

I’m a guy from Madridejos, Small village in a center of Spain, music lover and and lucky to live of what I love. I’m also passionate about food and cooking, seeing new countries, people and cultures and having a healthy balance between body and soul.

Your Chunky Cattish EP just came out on Suara Music, tell us the inspiration behind the tracks?

Ramiro Lopez

The idea was to deliver 3 tracks with 100% focus on the dancefloor.

‘Tolder’ is our favourite from the three, is there a track you prefer from the EP?

Ramiro Lopez

I like them all and have good feedback for all of them but if I had to choose one, I’d choose maybe ‘Noir’ as it’s the one I play out the most.

This isn’t your first release on Coyu’s label, will it be the last?

Ramiro Lopez

Of course not. Suara is one of my main labels and I will keep making the kitties dance. In fact, I’ll start to work on more tracks for the label maybe after the summer.

You’re prepping mix #62 for our series, what can we expect?

Ramiro Lopez

My mix is part of a set I recorded live from Madrid two weeks ago. You will listen to some of my fave tracks right now and a couple of my upcoming productions – it’s mostly techno, the way I like it!

Do you approach a guest mix any differently than a DJ set?

Ramiro Lopez

Not really. I try to keep similar vibe and style whenever I’m recording a podcast at home or if I’m playing in a club. I like the people to know what they can expect when the come to dance at the clubs with me. However, I think DJ sets are more dynamic and energetic because they are live with the crowd.

Bedrock, Sci+Tec and Intec are three other reputable labels that have seen music from you, is there a label you would like to release on that you previously haven’t?

Ramiro Lopez

There are a few of them on my wish list that I’m focusing on right now. One of them is Octopus (Sian´s Label) and finally I’m releasing an EP on there this Month. I’d love to release on Drumcode also. Each release from the label is top notch and I deeply admire Adam Beyer. Also some others hopefully I’ll reach soon.

Best experience as a DJ?

Ramiro Lopez

Hard to pick just one but; my first time at BPM Festival earlier this year, my last tour in India and the Suara party at ADE are some of them. However, I also have great memories from some of the parties I’ve played lately close to my hometown, surrounded by family and friends and a full dancefloor having a great time.

Coolest thing you own?

Ramiro Lopez

I’m not really owning it as I’m renting it but maybe my apartment. Two floors, I have a big kitchen where I can meet my friends while I’m cooking, two big terraces to make BBQs and relax with good weather, and my studio just there in one of the rooms. My hometown is quiet and not so far from the capital so it´s great to me.

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?

Ramiro Lopez

I’m a morning person and I love to wake up early and see the sunrise whenever I can. It is the most productive time of the day for me as I feel full of energy. I rarely use a alarm to wake up.
