Schmutz joins Omnidisc with Transgender EP

Schmutz, Omnidisc, Techno, Electro

Rating: 7.5

Belfast two piece Schmutz made a buzz across the city last month with the 12″ release of their latest ‘Transgender’ three tracker for OMNIDISC. Coming at just the right time to roll off their Peelers EP on Dirt Crew and a stand out Boiler Room performance at AVA Festival.

The MIX033 guests will no doubt be smiling ear to ear with an above average reception for the player, with premieres from XLR8R and Mixmag among the key highlights.

Opening track Transgender delivers strong resonance in the synth department, crunchy percussion and heavy techno drums from start to finish. Middle cut Cartograph takes our pick from the three, with a laid back mix of melodic techno and deep funk that’s almost Space Dimension Controller-esque.

Schmutz close things off with Blue Dust, a driven mid set banger that throws in an esoteric grit of snare and hat rolls, complemented perfectly by a minimal styled bassline.
