We spoke to Dutch duo ‘GROOZM‘ about their recently released EP on Bad Manor, what tracks they’re rating right now and what the future maybe holds for the Amsterdam based, garage mindful cousins.

So who is GROOZM?
GROOZM
GROOZM consists out of two cousins, Cimo Fränkel and Joram Retz, who grew up together in Amsterdam and started making music together around age 16. It was a year ago when we decided to get our music out for the world under the name GROOZM. The principal of our act is to make music regardless of style or genre but if you really want to pin us down on something you could say that we are coming with a UK/Deephouse feel.

Your new track, GROOZM – Have To Change, can you reveal the inspiration behind it?
GROOZM
We have had this idea for the track since 2006 with a different, dutch, vocal from Cimo’s brother, Kera Fränkel. Years later in 2014 we decided to flip the track around and rewrite the song in english. The produciton of the song was initially inspired by Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” and the vocals were given an 90’s R&B and old school 2step vibe.

A studio essential?
GROOZM
Lots and lots of laughs inspires us most to work at our best. It also helps to not have any people around that can kill the vibe (we call them glue dryers).

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?
GROOZM
We watch Pretty Little Liars.

Can you reveal any plans you have for the future?
GROOZM
Our first set plan is to establish ourselves not only as producers but also as a live act.
