Q&A: CHURCH

We caught up with London based Seb Wildblood who together with Apes is responsible for putting out dance music and regular parties under the brand Church. The boys celebrate their third birthday this Friday so we thought it suitable to find out how they got here, how they feel about making it to three and any plans they have for the future. Enjoy!

So who is Church?

Church

Church is a Record Label and Party based in South East London. Predominantly pushing House & Techno.

You were known primarily for your parties in the beginning, did you plan to start a label?

Church

Not at the very start, everything was very new to us. However as soon as we gained some exposure it’s something we started thinking about.

Seb Wildblood and Apes are the names behind Church, how did the partnership come about?

Church

I (Seb) moved into the flat above Dom, we were both into Dance Music and I think pushed each to dig a little deeper. We then decided to start a small party in the basement of a Church called Church.

Tomorrow you turn three! Can you tell us how it feels and any advice for anyone maybe just starting a label?

Church

It’s gone really fast, it feels good and i think we’ve made some good progress in three years. Any advice… I think when it comes to putting on parties or putting out music if you support what you’re genuinely into instead of jumping onto fads, the growth of your brand will be a lot more authentic and coherent.

And the line up for your 3rd year party, what can anyone attending expect throughout the night?

Church

The line up is a mix of some of our favourite artists, it’s a nice mix of styles so there should be something for everyone. Within reason.

lastly, can you reveal anything in terms of future releases, parties, or anything Church related?!

Church

Yep, we’ve got Apes’ EP on the way out (April 14th) with remixes from Chaos in the CBD & myself. Our next London show will be on the 20th june at Corsica.
