Premiere: Mak & Pasteman – Reflect

Rating: 8.0

First breaking out in the Leeds music scene, Mak & Pasteman symbolise the urban atmosphere that engulfs UK underground music. Their sound sits comfortably in the middle seat between house and techno, with releases coming on a variety of imprints such as Lobster Boy, Digital Soundboy and Unknown to Unknown.

The duo have went on to establish their very own label, Materials, and hold down monthly sets which can be heard on Rinse FM where they paint a palette of diverse and underground sound.

The pair’s latest project, Reflect, is coming out on their Materials label. A concrete bassline gets things underway as spacey noise creates an otherworldly atmosphere. Things get heavy as the track continues to evolve. An onslaught of deep, industrial sounds can be heard as the sweat trickles down your neck. Visions of a dark, eerie journey run rampant in the mind.

Reflect is out via Materials on December 5th.
