Monkey Safari Talk About Their Upcoming Ibiza Dates

Soundspace

So who are Monkey Safari?

Monkey Safari

We are two brothers from Halle/Saale, Eastern Germany. We make music together for a few years now. When we were young, we simply lost interest in playing with Lego or doing childish pranks at some point – so we needed something new: Music!

You just announced two Ibiza dates for later this month, what can clubbers expect from both dates?

Monkey Safari

Clubbers will hear our special and very own ‘hommage’ to the music. It will be a sunny trip in company of good friends. Every gig we play is special and unique for us, our guests can expect some surprises for sure and be the first to hear new tunes we bring with us on board. The cranes will fly with us!

Will you approach the Sankeys night differently than the boat party?

Monkey Safari

Yes, of course! The location always affects the atmosphere of the event and the way people are celebrating their night. It’s important for us to play the right music at the right moment. While club nights are more for the darker tunes, the boat party will be a sunny happy trip with friends.

Your Cranes EP has seen amazing support, can you talk about the inspiration behind the original?

Monkey Safari

We’re working on our second album for almost 2 years now. And during one of our album sessions looking for young talents and vocalists, we found the great voice of ‘Cranes’ – an amazing guy from the UK. He was up for a collaboration with us luckily and ‘Cranes’ was born. Well, more or less – Cranes is a track which grew with the time, actually it took us more than 1 year to finish it for some reason. So it´s a very special release for us and our beloved label ‘Hommage’.

There were many inspirations behind the original track: nice trips to many different countries, good times with our friends who always gave honest feedback over the production period. Our friends mean everything to us, they were the first ones to listen and dance to Cranes.

and how did you decide on who to request remixes from?

Monkey Safari

One year ago we did a remix for Kölsch on Kompakt. During the production of ‘Cranes’ we were thinking about possible remixers and our first idea was Kölsch. We sent over the track to him and he immediately said he loves it and would be up for a remix, which made us super happy.

The guys from Wolf+Lamb are producing really nice funky stuff and we’re personally big fans of their music and play a lot their tracks and also from the people around them. We wanted something different for the second remix, just another musical direction and the guys were up for it. We are really happy with the whole package and proud to have such great remixers on board, especially for our own label.

Can you tell us what the future holds for you?

Monkey Safari

After releasing Cranes in January, this summer (in August) we´ll release our next EP on our own imprint Hommage, with some big – and maybe unexpected remixers on board, which we cannot wait to announce.

For the rest of the year we´ve got some cool stuff for the label planned, great releases by other artists of our Hommage-family and of course many more Hommage label nights all over the world. Over the summer months, we play s lot of festivals all around Europe, like Awakenings in Amsterdam. End of the year we’ll be touring a lot – North America, South America, Asia and Africa is on the map!
