Mathias Schaffhäuser drops ‘Magnificent Madness’ EP on Suleiman

Canadian record label Suleiman has already shown a strong pedigree by featuring a diverse selection of artists, including contributions from Robert Babicz, Kris Wadsworth, Cesare vs Disorder, and Edit Select.

Their latest ‘Magnificent Madness’ EP comes from German producer Mathias Schaffhäuser, whose musical talents have seen him release on top labels such as Kompakt, Third Ear, and Tiefschwarz’s Souvenir imprint.

The first of the two original tracks on offer, ‘Collapsing Collabs‘ uses a throbbing analogue synth to create emotive sonic waves. Additional muted key stabs add even more character, and later in the arrangement some clattering percussion completes the groove.

‘Magnificent Madness’ is the second inclusion. A sweeping and whirring synth brings a leftfield touch to kick it off, showing Mathias’ experimental nature and that he’s not someone afraid to take risks.

The sole remix featured comes from Dub Taylor who many will know for his alter ego Tigerskin, and someone who has not only released on Get Physical and Sonar Kollektiv, but who also runs his own Forms & Figures imprint. Dropping the track down into a dubby and cavernous rework, the underwater vibe soaked in delay and masterful, metallic touches is nothing short of mesmerising.
