We spoke to Viktor Talking Machine to talk about their recent Abby EP on Monaberry, remixes from Sven Tasnadi and Martin Waslewski and the coolest thing in their house!

So who is Viktor Talking Machine?

Viktor Talking Machine

Viktor grew up in a musical family on the outskirts of a small mountain village. Early on, he discovered his love for nature and analogue soundscapes. He devoured all the sounds of nature and the vastness of the Antarctic wilderness and distilled from them his deep sound which accompanies him until today.

Your Abby EP is about to come out on Monaberry, can you talk about the inspiration behind the EP?

Viktor Talking Machine

Abby has been joining us daily in our dreams. And on our last trip through Antarctica, while searching for Alpacas, we woke up one day and had this clear picture of the EP. We drove back to our studio, finished the tracks and sent them to Monaberry. The guys were totally amazed and the rest is history in the making.

The EP comes with amazing remixes from Sven and Martin, what’s your thoughts on the edits?

Viktor Talking Machine

The two remixes are great and we like the ideas behind them. Martin’s remix is a peak time and an early in the morning bomb with its bassline and the shaking hats. Sven’s remix is a bomb for the festival and the outdoor season, full of sparkling and bubbling sounds.

What’s your worst experience as a DJ?

Viktor Talking Machine

A horrible experience could be the result of bad equipment at the club where we would be playing… Luckily, it does not happen often. We play vinyl only so if you were to have reverse feedback, old turntables with broken systems and bad monitors, then the 2 hours of magic could turn into the 2 hours of hell.

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?

In our free time we shave Alpacas and make nice shirts out of their whool. It is more like a passion, because if you really take care of the animals, you will get the finest wool out of them.

What’s the coolest thing in your house?

Viktor Talking Machine

It is an old Linhof 13 x 18 analog camera. We love this big ass beauty. She is so freaking heavy, but takes the best pictures you could imagine.

We heard of 2 guys… Still quite unknown and we always forget their name. Something ending with Machine. These guys have their first release on Monaberry this week, so you should definitely keep an eye on them.
