So who is Thabo Getsome?

Thabo Getsome

Toughest question first, I am a producer, DJ, promoter from Berlin, Germany who tries to follow his passion and to stay true to himself.

Your The Sound EP just dropped on Clap Your Hands, tell us about the player?

Thabo Getsome

I actually had totally forgot about the tune because I made it after a party, when I had trouble sleeping. Few weeks later I was sitting with the boys from mat.joe in their studio finishing our Katermukke EP and I was looking for a certain shaker sound I had made before and stumbled upon a ableton project called “The Sound”. Being curious, I opened it and really liked the bits and pieces I found and started that very night arranging it.

Of course some layers and automatization had to be added, but not a week later I showed it to Marcel Knopf (head of clap your hands) and he really wanted to release it straight away. Gotta say a big thank you also to Jesco Lohan and Dapayk for the great mixdown and the mastering.

And the remixes, do you have a favourite?

Thabo Getsome

With two so different remixes it´s impossible to pick a favorite. In my sets you are more likely to hear the Sacha Robotti Wobbly remix, just because it fits more to the other stuff I play. Nevertheless I really love the From Karaoke To Stardom remix as much and I actually played it out as well, usually as the first or last song. More then happy with both of them!

Will we see you on Clap Your Hands again?

Thabo Getsome

Most definetely. Marcel and me became good friends and I really feel his passion for the label, no wonder it gets picked up so well by a lot of great artists.

Did you get up to anything this summer?

Thabo Getsome

So far, this was a great summer. I started a new weekly event called Random Noise at lovely IPSE in Berlin with a lot of great guest such as Josh Butler, Yaya, Sable Sheep, Burnski and Emanuel Satie.

Luckily I also got invited to play a lot of international gigs this year and made great contacts, friends and of course experiences. Now with the summer coming to an end, Iam also looking forward to spend some more time in the studio again and working on future plans.

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?

Thabo Getsome

I tend to loose my USBs. Anyone out there who found one, please give it back.

What’s the coolest thing in your house?

Thabo Getsome

This will sound so yuppie-like, but probably my ceiling. It´s originally painted from the late 19th century and makes me feel like Iam sitting in the Sistine Chapel.

What does the future hold for Thabo Getsome?

Thabo Getsome

The sistine chapel? Hopefully a lot of new adventures in this business. There still is so much more to do and to come.

Anything to add?

Thabo Getsome

Thanks for having me!
