Interview: Selected hit 150,000 YouTube Subscribers

The Selected guys are swiftly becoming two of the go-to taste makers in dance music, their brand has soon exploded into one of the fastest growing YouTube blogs over 2014, and they don’t look like their plan on stopping. With talks of a Selected imprint, clothing line and maybe even branded events, read on to hear how the two feel about reaching 150,000 YouTube subscribers and what is coming in 2015.

So we caught up when you reached 50,000 and 100,000 subscribers, now it’s 150,000! How does it feel!?

Selected

Nick: I feel rewarded, especially for all the hard work we put in lately. Really looking forward to 200k now!

Nico: I Cannot realize it. We started like one and a half years ago & now we’re here at 150k, that’s simply amazing!

You are both publicly known as the founders of Selected, but is there anyone in the background that assists with daily operations?

Selected

Nick: We both do the job. From time to time we have friends who help us with some questions & we’re really happy about the good connections we developed over time!

Nico: My mum, without her I wouldn’t even eat!

Can you tell us an artist you both expect to make a difference in 2015?

Selected

Nick: Hmm it’s hard for me to pick one. I’m really looking forward to Curtis Gabriel, Icarus & Jerome Price for example. Endor is on a rush too.

Nico: There are too many to count!

What’s your favourite upload on Selected, a track that really made you say, this is amazing?

Selected

Nick: Currently maybe Kwabs – Walk (Jaded Remix), it’s really pushing, I like that. But however, I love all of our features!

Nico: Jerome Price remix of Tim Bergs Seek Bromance is the most amazing track for me at the moment.

You released selected stickers on your store this year, can we expect a merchandise line in 2015? If so, what might it include?

Selected

Nick: We’re still looking for the best design concepts and industry contacts for t-shirts, hoodies etc. However, we’re currently on it and will focus the most on coming samplers!

Nico: Tshirts, hoodies, caps, bags and a complation album.

One thing you own, and couldn’t live without?

Selected

Nick: My Macbook. It gives me the advantage to work on everything even when I am in university or in a nice cafe or bar in Berlin. A real time saver!

One piece of advice you would offer to a newly launched music channel?

Selected

Nick: Be yourself and don’t waste an opportunity to make a powerful friend and use your words wisely to anyone in this industry

Can you reveal what 2015 might bring for Selected as a brand?

Selected

Nick: We’re working on a new Corporate Identity which is important because we’re going to launch a label in the very beginning of 2015! There is a lot more to come and I really look forward to invite you to our coming events!

Nico: Oh a lot new stuff coming, a label, a brand, a new design, you definitely will get a lot of new stuff from us!
