Interview: Sebastian Carter

 

Not many 20 year olds have the ability to say they’ve had several million people listen to their music across the world, Sebastian Carter is one of those 20 year olds. Born in Switzerland, he now resides in Brighton, UK. After successful remixes of Flume, MORRT and Full Crate x Mar, he took a few minutes out to talk to us about the future and what we should look out for in 2015.

Sebastian Carter is just a normal guy from Switzerland living in the UK who loves making electronic music

You recently uploaded your Full Crate x Mar remix to SoundCloud, how did you approach the remix?

Sebastian Carter

When I first heard the original I could immediately imagine what type of remix I wanted to make. I was inspired to take the vocals to an even deeper place than the original. The pulsating bass and subtle synth carpet supported the vocals perfectly and made the remix almost underwater deep. The remixing process was very smooth and efficient, it was one of those times the flow was just there and everything just worked out in one go.

It’s been a long time since we seen an original production from you, when can we expect a single or EP?

Sebastian Carter

January 2015 actually, I have an original called “Fascination (feat. Aela Kae)” coming out on CROSSWALK Record’s first compilation album. I can’t say anything about EP or other singles yet but I have lots of originals in the making.

You’re now getting millions of plays on your music, did you think you would reach such a wide audience?

Sebastian Carter

No not at all. I started the project not expecting anything. It all went amazingly fast and is now my main focus, which is incredible.

Sebastian Carter

I don’t enjoy wintersports.

Someone you think will make a big impression in 2015?

Sebastian Carter

Lapsley for sure. She killed it in 2014 and she’s gonna own 2015 that’s clear.

Can you reveal any plans you may have for the future?

Sebastian Carter

I am currently working on a lot of originals, collaborations with other artist and playing live sets.
