So who is Flashmob?

Flashmob Alessandro

I am of English/Irish origin and live in Milan with my family. I have the best companion even and two beautiful babies. I got into the music scene many years ago, my first vinyl was bought in 1989. I did a lot of radio and tv stuff and got involved more and more.

When I finished Uni (I am Law graduate) I moved to London. My friend Andrea bought me the first ticket to be free. Everyone around me thought I was going to throw a promising law career away but thy didn’t know how serious I was and how bad I wanted this and to be honest neither did I.

I love music, playing music and specially making music and satisfying my ‘das es’ being creative. I starting producing in 2004 and then met Danny with whom I’ve bettered every possible technical knowledge I have and this gave me the chance to express myself. After two international projects together in 2011 we started Flashmob and this is only the beginning of our journey.

Flashmob Danny

I’m from Cassino and I live in Bologna now with my girlfriend. My father was a dj and is part of a cover band as we speak. I’ve always been involved in live stuff and been in the studio since I was 16. I was a professional boogie and salsa dancer before that, but that’s a different story.

I started producing in the year 2001 and then djing locally, but my life was a studio in the middle of the country out in the country side, I’d never even been on a plane before meeting a mad visionary who talked me into this; I’m talking about Alessandro of course.

I desperately needed someone to get me out of my micro world and Sandro was hungry to produce and make it big; he’s hugely driven and always told me we’d become internationals, I’m starting to believe him.

You just put out your ‘Don’t Leave EP’ on your own Flashmob Records, can you explain the idea behind the release and how it came to be?

Flashmob

This tune was produced a year ago and incredibly we didn’t release it straight away, we spoke with many big labels about signing it but never really in a convincing way.  We then decided to start our own label Flashmob and after positive impact of Who and Do You Do, the first EP, we decided to invest in the track our selves.

So we started a long promotional journey and slowly people like Maya Jane Coles, Seth Troxler and Disclosure started supporting the track, we were patient and we let the track grow till it became an essential part of a big number of huge talents around the world.

We did big work on radio with John Digweed, Groove Armada, Dusky, Heidi, Annie Mac and many others supporting it. So we decided to keep it a little longer and we searched for a big remix and were lucky because a super cool french guy came a long wanting to do a dub mix of it, Dj W!ld, his mix is an absolute peace of art.

Recently we have released the track and have had all the possible support from Beatport (thanks for that guys) and we are now about to premiere the Official and Unofficial videos that we did, one in Milan and one in London.

You have launched Flashmob Records and Flashmob LTD, what is the difference between the two?

Flashmob

On Flashmob Records we release only Flashmob Records (let’s say the bigger Records) and the Flashmob Sample Series, the first one called FMOB will be out in June and is coming from Flashmob (FMOB is our alias that we are doing stuff for Objektivity and on our LTD with).

Flashmob LTD is for friends and new talents that want to promote their music throughout our platform, we have built a reputation for our promo database and promotion. We are also going to do some more experimental music under the FMOB alias on the LTD label and also use the FMOB-A and FMOB-D to give our followers idea’s of what Danny and Alessandro also do singularly, just to make it more interesting.

Can you share any news on what’s to come on the labels?

Flashmob

Flashmob Records will see a Sample Library I already mentioned in June and then another secret big record before the end of the year. On Flashmob LTD we have a record from Julien Sandre that has just been released as LTD002 and a new Flashmob EP called Different Rooms (202 and 727) that we just released and that gained some great support.

We have releases coming from Wouter De Moor, Michelle Owen with Felix De Housecat, Dj W!ld and probably Mennie (I’m waiting for a second track from him) In june we have another Flashmob & FMOB EP on the LTD label that we are really happy about.

Will Flashmob still release with other imprints, or will you guys stay exclusively to your own?

Flashmob

We still will be releasing on other labels, I mean we have a six track EP on Little Helpers out August 25th, another one with Alan Fitzpatrick out this summer, and a three track EP as FMOB on Objektivity in June. We’ve also just remixed for the WLabel, Viva, Moonharbour, Universal and Chronivision.

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?

We are two KGB agents that use djing as a cover, that is why we drink all that vodka.
