Your ‘Tears EP’ is out on Monday via Mother Recordings, can you reveal the inspiration behind the two tracks?
Dilby
Tears is a straight up house track designed for the club. Lot’s of energy with big drums and bass but still with some fun and funk. I wanted this to be a real party track. It has had some great support already with plays from some big guys like Claptone. So this, along with the great crowd response when I play it, makes me think it’s doing it’s job.
U Used Me is deeper and more melodic. It has a bit more of a melancholy vibe and I was trying to create some depth and emotion in the track while still keeping enough energy that it can work in the club. I write music primarily for people to enjoy in the club setting and U Used Me has been fitting into my sets pretty well but I also hope this record has some home listening appeal too.

The Kristina Sheli top line fits ‘U Used Me’ perfectly, how did that collaboration come to be?
Dilby
It was really very organic actually. A friend of mine was talking to a work colleague about music and my name came up. He said his girlfriend was a singer and would really like to do something and asked if my buddy could introduce us. I’m really open to collaborations so I listened to some of Kristina’s previous work and was really blown away. Her voice is amazing and you can really hear her years of experience as a singer, song writer and performer.
I sent her a few demo tracks and she chose one she liked and wrote a rough demo of some lyrics and sent them back. I was super excited by what she sent through so we got together in my home studio in Kreuzberg and did the recording which was really fun and flowed super well considering it was the first time we met in person. After that I reworked the drums and arrangement around Kristina’s vocals and that’s how it went down. She is super talented and a lovely girl so I’m really excited to do some more work together in the future

Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?
Dilby
When I was seven years old I saved up my pocket money and bought the cassette tape of Kylie Minogue’s debut album, Kylie. But don’t tell anyone that, it would ruin my street rep.

One thing you own, and couldn’t live without?
Dilby
A sharp kitchen knife! I love to cook and there is nothing worse than trying to prepare a meal with a crappy blunt knife.

Can you reveal any plans you may have for the future?
Dilby
I’m always working and always have a lot on the go. After this EP on Mother Recordings I have an EP coming on Bondage Music. I mentioned before that I enjoy collaborating with other artists so i have a lot of different stuff I’m working on with Tyler Brunton (Alive Recordings), Benjamin Frnkln (Hot Creations), El Mundo (Bondage Music) and also my good buddy and Mother Recordings boss man, Nhan Solo.
