Your new compilation album ‘The World Of Monophonia’ is out soon, can you tell us how you choose the tracks on the album?

Anthony Rother

Our main intention was to give something back to the crowd of the recent Monophonia partys. Therefore I’ve talked to all artists who have been playing at the events and asked if they can provide a track for the compilation. It took about two weeks of hard work for everybody to finish the tracks in time. I’ve worked out the concept for the mix in two studio nightshifts. I´m really happy about the results. All Techno Lovers can download their favourite single tracks or the whole mix now.

Is there a track that really stands out for you, above any of the others?

Anthony Rother

No, not really. Every single track is very special and has it’s own charm. One of the most interesting issues about the compilation is, that all artists, except Ronin 5, are located in and near Frankfurt. This reflects the main intention of the Monoponia Events, featuring Frankfurt’s local scene, working together live in the studio and also meeting up for private occasions. Personal contact to the DJ’s involved is something very important for me, this makes the compilation really special and personal.

From the photos you post on Facebook, it seems your studio setup is very much made up of outboard and analogue gear, why do you prefer working this way in comparison to completely digital/software based?

Anthony Rother

In the end it’s not a matter of sound, it’s more about how the music is being created. I also use software sometimes, but no software instruments. Of course I also work with digital hardware, but I enjoy to get in physical contact with the devices I use. Operating analog systems is a greater pleasure for me than clicking with a mouse, I don´t feel anything when I work with a mouse. Hardware devices also reflect my vision of technical artists.

What’s the coolest thing in your studio?

Anthony Rother

Two greek synthesisers of the company Dreadbox, the Murmux syntheziser and the Erebus synthesizer. After years these are the synthesisers that still have their own real character. They sound fantastic to me, the Father of these wonderful instruments is a Genius, they´re real masterpieces.

Can you reveal any plans you have for the future?

Anthony Rother

At the moment i’m producing tracks for the DJ Sets I perform every weekend. 99% of the tracks I play in my sets are my own productions. Most of them are unreleased. Also i’m working on the first Monophonia Open Air during the Summer, of course the Event will take place in Frankfurt. Another project i’m working on is to finish my studio, there i’m going to produce a new elektro album for my label psi49.net
