UK label Hypercolour have for a long time been a trademark of quality dance music, with past releases from Laurent Garnier and Maya Jane Coles. Their second release of the year comes in the form of a four track club wrecker titled ‘The Smack’, courtesy of British House Of Black Lanterns. With previous releases on Houndstooth and a mix catalogue that includes Boiler Room and Rinse FM, the German artist is no stranger to the spotlight.
‘Grey Leather Glass’ decisively gets our vote from the tracklist, the percussive mid bass and resonant synths echo nicely in the blackened atmosphere of the deep ducking sub bass. The simple, yet sonically perfect drum hits make it an all out club track while the light percussion brings a nice sharpness to the mix, alongside the pitching Jack sample it adds sense of progression to an all out club arrangement.
