Liverpool’s 24 Kitchen Street is campaigning to keep itself alive in the wake of a property development threat. A proposal consisting of 200 flats has been submitted for the surrounding area, where noise from the venue is reportedly causing a stir.

CMD is throwing an event, Get Up Stand Up, at the venue on June 23rd. All money made will be contributed to the ongoing battle to keep 24 Kitchen Street open.

“With the continuing threat of gentrification to our cultural areas growing, we aim to raise awareness of this struggle by bringing together some of the finest acts around, to show how important these places are to our towns and cities”, reads the event detail.

“24 Kitchen Street has been a cornerstone of Liverpool’s music scene for years and this lineup reflects the rich diversity of talent that it welcomes through its doors regularly.”
