Cabasa is an artist hailing from Belgium, and is top boy over at Convex Records. Brought up to the sound of drum and bass, thanks to his father (DJ LIUM) who also co-runs Convex, the artist has now set his sights on the second installation of Artifice’s free EP series, Kidjo, and those early drum and bass soundscapes truly shine through throughout the project.
Kidjo possesses four original tracks from the Belgian producer and a remix from Circular Jaw head honcho Nuvaman, as the string of EP’s look to surface more new talent from every rounded edge of the globe.
‘Bleu’ is a cut taken from Cabasa’s forthcoming EP, and it’s available for free download. The track opens mysteriously. What sounds like sheet of metal vibrate as a pounding, broken bassline abruptly enters. Otherwordly atmospheres circulate as each element comes together efficiently and effectively. Skank out to this in full swing.
