XL Recordings have released DJ Koze’s rendition of ‘Operator’, a track originally produced by British artist Låpsley.
The original version of the track was part of Låpsley’s debut record, Long Way Home, which came out on XL Recordings earlier this year.
DJ Koze, real name Stefan Kozalla, spoke to Resident Advisor about the remix, explaining why exactly he remixed the track in the first place, especially when he felt it was so good that it didn’t require one.
“When I heard ‘Operator’ for the first time, I thought that it was unique and perfect and didn’t need a remix at all, but what I could imagine was in fact a ten minute-lasting, slowly unwrapping-itself version in a Larry Levan style, playing and dubbing around with the original stems, providing some gimmicks while imagining the moon with the spoon in the Studio 54.”
The remix is out now on vinyl and digital formats.
