Premiere: DJ Ides – Shake That Ass (Marshall Jefferson Remix)

Rating: 7.5

Next up entering the frame is American producer DJ Ides, real name Patrick Morganelli, who’s back on Freakin909 with a groovy house number titled ‘Shake That Ass’ which has also received remixes from Marshall Jefferson, DJ Sneak and Bar 9.

Today we bring to you the remix from Chicago house don Marshall Jefferson. Jefferson originally worked as a producer for Universal in Chicago, but later went on to produce the influential house anthem ‘Move Your Body’, released on Trax Records.

Jefferson’s rendition of Morganelli’s work illustrates a laid back, stripped down approach. The drum line maintains a slower tribal identity while the soul inspired bass bubbles on in the background. Vocals order you to “shake that ass” before classic house piano tones can be distinguished. What you’ve come to expect from one of house music’s pioneers.
