Rating: 8.0

This isn’t the first time we have made this claim and we’re quite sure it won’t be the last, Berlin’s Exploited Recordings is second to none for the output of high quality, innovative and sonically pleasing warm, vibrant and synth heavy house music.

The latest musical vanguard to bring vibes to Exploited is Berlin’s Claptone, together with Jaw he brings us Dear Life EP; made up of Dear Life and Secret Lover. Although this isn’t the first time the pair have worked together, it sure is some of the best work to come from either side.

Dear Life brings a warm and light summer experience. Smooth piano chords and simple house drums make up most of the spectrum, with Jaw’s soulful top line floating effortlessly.

Secret Lover has a much clubbier sound. Pushing a funkadelic bass synth, vocal chops and groovy foundation, it’s definitely built for the clubs. Jaw does great work again on both the writing and recording of the vocals on this one. It takes our pick from the two.
