Seminal UK garage and bass music producer Burial has been at the forefront of underground music culture since the release of his self-titled studio album in the mid 2000’s, and transformed into a cult hero with the release of ‘Untrue’ in 2007.
Since then his music has come via a scattering of EP releases and collaborations, mostly via Kode9’s Hyperdub label. Making a habitual change with his latest studio effort, the South London producer drops his first solo release that won’t come via Hyperdub, instead opting for indie-giant XL Recordings.
‘Dreamfear / Boy Sent From Above’ ticks all the boxes for fans of Burial’s distinct sound. Pitched up vocal chops, intense breakbeat rhythms, and raw, sustained basslines come in full flow, and it spans a whopping 26 minutes across the 2 tracks.
Releasing today via digital platforms, the EP will also come as a 12” vinyl offering which drops on February 9th. Listen to both tracks below.
