Detroit imprint Interdimensional Transmissions has unveiled details for Alpha 606’s forthcoming album, Afro-Cuban Electronics.
The reveal comes hot on the heels of RMXD which was posted on Soundcloud last month. It featured a new track with remixes from Interdimensional Transmissions bosses BMG and Erika and Anthony Shakir.
RMXD was collected from the forthcoming record, a record that the label is describing as Armando Martinez’s (real name) “love letter to Cuba and his family and their struggles.” They go on to describe it as a “lost album” as it has been constructed over a number of years.
Martinez draws inspiration for his music his Cuban background. He was birthed to Cuban immigrants; influence is also drawn from the anti-Castro group Alpha 66, it’s from here the artist came up with the idea for the alias Alpha 606.
Afro-Cuban Electronics consists of 13 tracks along with a cut on two separate release formats – a vinyl live edition of Shake which was performed at one of the labels Samhain Detroit parties, and a digital version of a tribute to the King of the Mambo, Perez Prado, and his 1947 song “No Me Quieres Tanto (Cafta Version).
Last week Interdimensional Transmissions announced the plans for their yearly Movement-weekend party, No Way Back. The concept sees the label team up with The Bunker.
