40 Questions: Matador

Despite its relatively small size, the island of Ireland has always held its own in terms of its consistent output of high quality club talent, and the latter side of 2020 has even seen things ramp up to a level we haven’t experienced before.

One name that’s always been among the top selectors to come out of the emerald isle is techno aficionado Matador, who since breaking through in the early 2010’s has released music on record labels like Richie Hawtin’s Minus, the infamous Plus 8 Records, and Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations.

As a DJ and live act he’s also seen and done it all, with highlight bookings putting him in front of crowds at Ibiza hotposts such as DC-10 and Hi Ibiza, as well as Ultra Music Festival and Dutch party Awakenings.

The latest set of productions to come out of his now Ibiza-based studio arrives in the form of his 2-track ‘Sol’ EP, which combines original titles ‘Sol’ and ‘Luna’. The release comes via his own RUKUS imprint, a label which in the past has brought us sounds from ARTBAT, Skream, Meduza, and Joran Van Pol.

Joining us this week to take on our latest edition of 40 Questions, Matador talks about everything from hotel room service and Steve Seagal, to cod sperm and getting his pilot license – read the full interview below.
