The Spanish double act of Audiofly have seen an incredible amount of success over the years, releasing their unique style of deep and tech house music on top record labels such as Pokerflat Recordings, Mobilee Records, and Crosstown Rebels.
This year will see the pair go their separate ways, at least as far as Audiofly is concerned, as the project becomes one and one half of the duo, Anthony Middleton, continues touring the world and releasing music with the name.
Alongside their impressive outings on third party imprints, they also manage a number of labels of their own, including Supernature, where esteemed producers like Solomun, Alex Niggemann, and Tiefschwarz have released in the past.
Anthony and Luca join us for one last dance before parting ways, where the Spanish artists talk about David Bowie and Rick Rubin, DMT, and Antarctica, among others things. Read the full feature below.
1. Where are you right now and what are you doing?
Anthony: I’m in Mexico City. It’s 1pm and I’m lying in bed. Art week is about to start so I’m getting some much needed rest & recovery before the fun begins.
2. What year were you born?
Anthony: 1971.
3. Do you have a nickname?
Anthony: Just Ant.
4. What’s the coolest thing in your house?
Anthony: My wife!
5. How would you describe yourself?
Anthony: I’m quiet till I’m loud. Sharp as a knife with the memory of a goldfish, I’m all about long-lasting friendships based on mutual love, respect, and balance. I keep a small circle although everyone is welcome inside.
6. Worst experience as a DJ?
Anthony: Anxiety attacks whilst playing. The first time it happened I thought it was a heart attack.
7. Best experience as a DJ?
Anthony: Every single time you connect to a track and the crowd at the same time and the circuit is complete. If you know what I mean.
8. Favourite record label?
Anthony: That’s a loaded question. Right now? Ever? Historically? Across the board? Just dance? R&S, Ninja Tune, Island records, Warp Records, NRK, Crosstown has some classics, Supernature – although I’m biased lol.
9. What’s your biggest weakness?
Anthony: Sweets.
10. First record you ever paid for?
Anthony: Jonathan Livingston Seagull audiobook, when I was maybe 8.
11. What’s your morning routine?
Anthony: In the middle of intense touring, coffee! When I’m in a quiet and composed place I wake up, meditate for an hour, have coffee, do yoga, and then turn off my devices. I need time to myself in the morning.
12. Your dream collaboration?
Anthony: Alive – I’d love to collaborate with Brian Eno, Jean Michelle Jarrem, or Sade. Dead – although the list is long I’d say Bowie is first in line.
13. Tell us something we shouldn’t know about you?
Anthony: I’ve been carrying and successfully dealing with a genetic disease for half of my life, it’s kinda made me ME.
14. Who’s your biggest inspiration outside of music?
Anthony: Ooof so many again! Dalai Lama, Gabor Mate, Rick O’Barry, Sir David Attenborough.
15. And in the industry?
Anthony: Rick Ruben, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, and Herbie Hancock. Within the dance sector – anyone holding the line for the underground sound. That’s where all the innovation will come from.
16. Ever smoked?
Anthony: Yes.
17. Ever done drugs?
Anthony: Maybe lol.
18. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
Anthony: The 5 years of healing (when I was really ill in my 20’s) and the teachings and practices that have kept me strong during this crazy ride.
19. And the best gift you’ve ever given?
Anthony: Maybe it’s just the music from deep in my heart.. Too corny?
20. What’s the coolest place you’ve ever been to?
Anthony: Have you ever taken DMT?
21. And one place you want to visit?
Luca: Thailand.
22. If you weren’t in the music industry, what would you be doing?
Luca: I have absolutely no idea but probably something in fashion.
23. Worst job you’ve ever had?
Luca: Dishwasher.

Luca: Roy Rosenfeld – Kaka.
25. And the best record ever made?
Luca: The Doors – Riders On The Storm.
26. One thing you couldn’t live without?
Luca: My girl (and oxygen).
27. Your favourite food?
Luca: Pasta, in all of its glorious forms.
28. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Luca: I don’t eat weird stuff. Freaks me out.
29. Who would you want to play you in a movie?
Luca: I would love to act in a movie but build the character from scratch instead.
30. What’s something you’re passionate about besides music?
Luca: Cars.
31. Favourite club you’ve played?
Luca: Don’t particularly prefer clubs. More of a unique venue person. But, playing on top of Sugar Loaf in Brazil was epic.
32. Favourite festival you’ve played?
Luca: Monastery Festival in Germany, by the same people behind The Gardens Of Babylon.
33. Craziest story of being on the road?
Luca: Can’t remember any right now, there’s a lot in 20 years.
34. Weirdest request as a DJ?
Luca: I give them the look before they can make a request.
35. If you had one super power what would it be?
Luca: To be able to breath underwater.
36. Late sleeper or early riser?
Luca: Used to be a late sleeper and I’m now an avid early riser.
37. Strangest video you’ve watched on YouTube?
Luca: I don’t watch many YouTube videos I’m afraid. I prefer movies.
38. The top thing on your bucket list?
Luca: To go to Antarctica.
39. Most memorable moment of your life so far?
Luca: I would say my life is a collection of memorable moments as a whole, my career, friends, and the life I have managed to lead. I’m very grateful.
40. Will you ever be done with music?
Luca: Maybe with touring but never with music.
