Your collaboration for Shaky EP went out on Toy Tonics, tell us the inspiration behind the tracks and how your joint venture came to be?

Sacha Robotti

We’ve known each other for some years now; back in the days when ZDS was a duo, I looked up to their way of making music and their, I guess ‘punk’ attitude. Nat’s partner Luke moved to Berlin to do a solo thing, where we met and collaborated; I’ve released some records on his label Klasse as well. In the meantime I kept in touch with Nat and we DJ’d together at some parties, for instance Dirtybird in Berlin.

We are friends and It was about time we made some music together. It’s always fun hanging with Sacha and was really fun making these tunes!

Worst experience as a DJ?

Sacha Robotti

For me one of the worst things that can happen is when you have physical or emotional issues, but still have to be on stage and pretend like it’s all good. After all, promoters book you months in advance, people come, pay and look forward to see me play, so I don’t want to let them down.

For instance I had a painful back injury a while ago, it was so bad that I couldn’t walk, almost fainted and was unable to stand on stage, without being on post-chemo-grade painkillers and stoned out of my mind to numb the pain; so I sat down on a barstool playing techno, it looked kinda weird, it wasn’t pleasant, but that was the only way to kill it.

I was playing in France and some guy tried to steal my usb stick, I caught him in the act and he tried to fight me. I hate violence!

Jazz, Classical, Oldschool Hip Hop. Also, waves and birds.

I love all kinds of music. I’m really into people like Py and Throwing Snow at the moment. I’m also pretty much constantly listening to Paul Johnson – He Is My hero.

What’s the coolest thing in your house?

My new kitchen. After a year and a half of living ghetto with no possibility to cook warm food in my flat, this is a real bonus.
