MIX411: Jon Hester

Berlin-based American techno artist Jon Hester contributes a new entry to the Soundspace mix series. Known for a catalogue that spans labels including Klockworks and Tresor, he has also developed his own imprint, Participation, which has previously released collaborative projects from artists such as Cassy, Lady Starlight, and Exos.

The mix arrives alongside Hester’s latest release, the four-track ‘Here And Present’ EP. Composed entirely of original material, the record lands on RSPX, a sub label of Rekids.

Across the 62+ minute session you’ll find streamlined track selections built around lean, thumping rhythms and a restrained industrial edge. Hypnotic drum patterns and driving synth lines form the backbone of the mix, which maintains a steady forward momentum without any melodramatic shifts in tempo and structure.

The tracklist draws from established techno figures alongside newer voices, with selections including productions from Speedy J, Surgeon, Elisa Bee, and Quelza.
