Mary Olivetti brings a breaks-fueled remix of Charles Petersohn’s ‘Schmetterlinge Im Bauch’ to Compost Records

Mary Olivetti delivers a broken-beat rework of Charles Petersohn’s ‘Schmetterlinge Im Bauch’, released via Compost Records. The Munich-based imprint has cultivated a catalogue spanning house, jazz-inflected electronic music, and experimental club sounds over more than three decades.

Now based in Amsterdam, the Brazilian producer approaches Petersohn’s original with a sensitive touch, transforming it into a groove-driven broken-beat track. Jazzy harmonies and deep tonal layers intertwine with syncopated percussion, highlighting her hybrid production style and creating a natural, distinctive rhythm.

Olivetti chose ‘Schmetterlinge Im Bauch’ from Petersohn’s album for its musical richness, noting references to artists such as Azymuth and Marcos Valle, alongside echoes of her father, Lincoln Olivetti. She also points to the children’s vocals scattered throughout the track, which add a playful yet atmospheric layer, blending Brazilian and African influences with a free, jazzy energy.

The remix appears as part of the Children Of Zu Zu package, which features interpretations by Moodorama, als420, Viktor Marek, and The Greater Manchester Housing Authority. Alongside this release, Olivetti is preparing new material for her label RAIO LASER, continuing her exploration of house, disco, and boogie with strong Brazilian influences.
