Leftroom Records founder Matt Tolfrey has died
English DJ, producer, and label owner Matt Tolfrey has died, with the news confirmed on October 13th via an Instagram post from Damian Lazarus. The cause of death has not been made public.
Tolfrey built a respected legacy through previous releases on record labels such as Cuttin’ Headz, Hot Creations, and elrow – as well as his own influential imprint Leftroom Records.
Founded in the mid-2000s, Leftroom became a home for artists such as Lee Burridge, Jasper James, and Kate Simko, and directly helped shape a vital era of UK underground club culture.
His final release, a remix for Silicone Soul on Armada Music, arrived on September 26th of this year.
