Fresh Picks: Audiojack

English duo Audiojack have been a driving force in UK house for almost two decades, releasing a steady flow of club-ready cuts on labels such as Defected, Toolroom, and Knee Deep In Sound. Their productions balance polished grooves with a knack for keeping the dancefloor moving.

Coming off the release of their new single ‘Rumours’ on Dirtybird, the pair share their latest Fresh Picks, a snapshot of what’s inspiring their sets right now.

The selections highlight music from names like Low Steppa, Josh Butler, and Skream – with cuts drawn from standout labels including Circoloco Records, Club Sweat, and REALM.

Low Steppa – The Dub 99
Label: Low Trax Records

“We’ve been playing loads of the tracks Low Steppa has put out on labels like Defected, Toolroom, and his own label Low Trax. The dubby speed garage works perfectly to get people going early on in our sets and then we’ll go to one of his big room bangers when it’s peaking. ‘The Dub 99’ is stripped back speed garage with a moody break that drops into such an infectious bass groove it’s hard not to move.”

Metroplane ft. Daniel Wilson – Be Where I Am (Whitesquare Remix)
Label: Club Sweat

“It’s nice to have something from Whitesquare in the box again, we have been early proponents of playing his music regularly when we were playing a more electronic sound. We were lucky enough to snag him for an EP on our label Gruuv a few years back. This latest one is his remix of Metroplane and Daniel Wilson, it starts with a Twin Peaks vibe before opening up into ’90s piano and soulful vocals before switching gears into a percussive tech groover with a classic ’90s house stab.”

Josh Butler & Romeo Lousia – Move To The Rhythm
Label: BLINK

“We’ve held Josh Butler in high esteem since we first learned of him back in 2013. He’s a producer who has managed to forge his way with a restrained and classy brand of house that’s less about cheap tricks and more about solid grooves. This latest cut ‘Move To The Rhythm’ is a little different from what we would expect but it’s a nice surprise. It harks back to a sound we were immersed in back in our days in Leeds with artists like Derek Carter and Mark Farina making a resurgence. It’s classic jackin’ house with a bit of extra stomp.”

Charlie Boon – We’ll Be Back
Label: REALM

“REALM have been championing lots of flavours of the UK’s garage and bass sounds. We’ve got lots of it in the box, including one of our own which we released with them earlier last year. This latest release ‘We’ll Be Back’ by Charlie Boon has reams of nostalgia for us. It has moments that feel like ’90s rave and then it drops into an amazing hyper speed UKG jam.”

Skream & FLETCH – Lost Without You
Label: CircoLoco Records

“Circoloco Records have been putting out some huge records recently with stuff from the likes of Mochakk and Prospa, who’s track ‘If You Want My Loving’ has been a go to for the end of our sets. Now Skream is on there with FLETCH for their track ‘Lost Without You’. It’s got all of the elements of ’80s boogie, but it’s presented as a loud and crunchy electronic house banger that no doubt will be making lots of smiley faces.”

Ragie Ban ft. Royal Cinema – Rebels
Label: Planet X

“Rebels ft. Royal Cinema by Ragie Ban shifts gears a little but it’s the sort of thing we’d play at an outdoor party or festival. A dreamy delicate British indie dance journey as it builds, opens up and eventually drops into a raw analogue bass that could have belonged to some of the minimal techno music we were playing back in the noughties. It’s the sort of track we’d end our sets on.”
