Belfast’s newest idyllic techno night invites you to a diagnosis of experimentation on Thursday 16th July.
This coming week Collate welcomes Peter Gibney, the co-founder of Soundspace, and Misfit residents Andrew Johnson and Ryan Dornan.
Peter Gibney is one of Northern Ireland’s most exciting young artists to emerge from the techno genre. He produces a hypnotic, nocturnal sound and by implementing basslines and haunting melodies he creates a personal, distinctive style. Tentatively seeking out cutting edge alternatives to techno, yet staying true to the traditional raw noise that techno originated from.
Johnson has been a Misfit resident since 2009. His style of music pursues a funkier side of the house genre. It is easy to see why Misfit has kept Johnson part of their team for such a long time, he makes you want to dance.
Ryan Dornan has graced Misfits deck since last year, though he first dawned as a sound and lighting engineer in 2012. Through doing so he has built quite a reputation, playing alongside stirring breakthrough acts such as Mark Ronboy and Waze & Odyssey. His mixes are a mixture of bass heavy house, with added elements of garage, though his own original tracks ensue an augmented, traditional melodious house sound.
