Carl Cox awarded OBE in king’s birthday honours list

British DJ, producer, label owner, and all round dance music icon Carl Cox has been awarded an OBE in the king’s birthday honours list in recognition of his services to music. The honour recognises his longstanding contribution to electronic music and his influence across UK club culture.

Over several decades, Cox has become one of the most recognisable figures in dance music, known for his track selection, extended DJ sets, and long-running Ibiza residencies.

The OBE marks another impressive milestone in his career, he spoke about the occasion:
